Our sawmills are the hub of Holmen's circular business. It is here that the timber is divided and the refinement of the forest we have harvested begins.
Bygdsiljum is perfectly located between Umeå and Skellefteå in central Västerbotten. In addition to the production of sawn and further refined timber, the facility in Bygdsiljum includes the production of glulam and CLT (cross-laminated timber).
Glulam has been manufactured in Bygdsiljum since the mid-1960s, and over the years, several major investments have been made. In 2010, a new sorting plant was inaugurated in Bygdsiljum, an investment of SEK 110 million that further strengthened the sawmill's technologically advanced position in Europe. Today, the company is one of the largest glulam producers in the Nordic region.
